Prog Rock Britannia is 2009′s BBC documentary about progressive rock movement emerged in the United Kingdom in late 60′s, which experienced its golden age during 70′s. Featuring the giants such Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Genesis and Jethro Tull, with special reference to Canterbury progressive rock, recalling likes such Soft Machine, Caravan, Hatfield and the North, Gong and Egg. This documentary probably doesn’t bring anything new of what you may have not known, but is a nice recapitulation of one of the golden eras in a different understanding of the phenomenon called progressive rock.
Contributors include Robert Wyatt, Mike Oldfield, Pete Sinfield, Rick Wakeman, Phil Collins, Arthur Brown, Carl Palmer and Ian Anderson. Running time is 88 minutes, and quality is 9/10.
